DISTILLING THE ESSENTIALS
The tales of Narnia by CS Lewis are written in my DNA. And as I was contemplating how on earth my experiences of life could be used to bless others, I remembered about Lucy's special cordial.
Given to her by Aslan, Lucy the Valiant carried with her this little phial of powerful medicinal potion everywhere she went.
To produce most essential oils, a large amount of flowers or leaves, roots or berries are needed to be boiled and distilled to produce a tiny amount of potent liquid. Once created though, only a few drops can have a wonderfully deep and wide effect.
Like our lives, my life...looking back at the days/weeks/months/years that have been spent in painful emotions/challenges/loss/stress, I worry that those times were wasted.... But also, how do I pass on the joy, the love, the fulfilment and happiness I have also been blessed to experience? How do I communicate such things?
I think that if I process my experiences well, bravely and honestly, those big piles of leaves, roots ( sometimes appearing to be heaps of rubbish) and flowers can turned into little bottles of potent wisdom and love, understanding or compassion for the people in my life. If I live prepared, I can use them, like oils of frankincense, cinnamon or lavender, to help my friends when needed. All the gladness, beauty and blessings can be distilled into oils like lemon, jasmine and wild rose and such, that I may share and hopefully spread their fragrance!
So, I pray I may have my little bag of essential oils ready to hand when needed, all the while that new potions are being produced.
Nothing needs to be wasted if we are under Heavens' management...
