PATCHWORK

I adore the patchwork quilt I gave myself for my birthday in December! It came all the way from Jaipur, was a very good price and beautifully made.

Since returning to the UK I've been so blessed to reconnect with dear friends and above all to be nearer to my daughter. But I've also enjoyed renewing my relationship with the lovely Northamptonshire villages that surround me - visiting, photographing and painting them gives me great pleasure.

And I got to thinking how my life has been  a bit patchwork in terms of the places I have lived ...

In summary ( with some locations left out or the list gets too long) 😃 : -

Born in Sweden, Surrey for 18 years,  London for 4 years (nursing training and job after), Northampton 1 year, Pattishall 5 years, Birmingham 7 years ( 3 different locations), Black Country 1 year ( 1st year of marriage), Bugbrooke 2.5 years, Northampton 7 years (2 different houses), France 4 years (2 houses), Cornhill nr Pattishall 4 years, Pattishall 1 year, Weedon 2.5 years, Bugbrooke 2.5 years, France 3 years, Weedon 6 months so far! I've been privileged to live in large houses/ mansions for more than half of my life and yes I do suffer from Priveleged Person guilt even though I've never had much money and have given away all what I did have a few times in my life.

So it's been a real patchwork pathway and I often feel in awe of people I meet who've lived in the same location for huge lengths of time. Worried at times of the effect it may have had on my 2 children but they assure me it was mostly positive and confidence building for them. BTW, almost every place I've lived in has been 'forever', I never foresaw or planned to move so much. I'm a homelover! But there were good reasons, some out of my control, for every change of location.

When you look at my patchwork quilt, the overall impression is the colour purple, which brings it all together, combining it into a lovely creation. And for me, the presence, the love, the peace, the trust, the hope, the strength, the forgiveness, the patience and the beauty of my Lord and God, my Saviour Jésus Christ - is the colour of purple in my life 🙌😊
